Salvaging a photo..

My son recently married his best friend... She happens to be the mother of his child... (They did the marriage/baby thing out of order..)

I had taken a photo of Mother and child that actually was a bit out of focus and not what I considered a good photo. I felt really bad because I just loved the idea of the gentle kiss on the forehead...

I played with it a little bit and added a soft focus around the edge, ending up with a photo that I can live with.

Hello,
I actually did that in Google's Picasa2 program...
I've actually come to enjoy using it..
It's friendly, easy to use, it will handle my Canon RAW files, and it's free...
I love free stuff... Lol...
I flipped this one over to B/W and like it even more...

Great work! I noticed that you said you use a Canon. What is your opinion of the Rebel XTI, if you have one?

Thanks,

GZ

Good evening!..
I love it..
I owned the digital rebel xt for over a year.. moved up to the xti..
No comparison!..
About the same image quality actually, but much, much more friendly menus.. larger screen on the back, etc...
It rocks..
After owning it for a day I wouldn't go back to the XT....

Thanks, I believe that it is the one that I will get. Been looking at the XTI for a few months. Great picture....what lens did you use?

Thanks again,

Gary Z.

Dell has the XTi w/kit lens for $680.00 in black right now.

You can knock of $85.00 if you want to skip the kit lens...

Buying from Dell assures you that you're not getting a gray market camera and it will have the one year Canon USA warranty...

There are a lot of shady camera dealers on the 'net so please be very careful who you deal with...

That particular photo was taken with a Canon 17-85 Ultrasonic focus lens with image stabilizer...

This photo was taken with the same lens... Some amazing paint...

Neat, I like the reflections in the chrome...nice colors. I am new to the DSLR. Have an AE1 but don't use it anymore. I have read a lot of reviews about the XTI and underexposures with the kit lens. Thanks for the tip on Dell. I believe the XTI is the one that I will get.

Thanks

Good deal...
Shooting in the RAW mode will give you larger file sizes.. but large photos too.. lol..and creative license to adjust exposure, white balance, etc....etc.....
you will love it!!..

Bob, one additional question. How often do you have to clean the sensor? I am looking at warranties and before I make a decission I am trying to figure out what type of warranty one would need. By the way, I was at a mall yesterday and there was a Dell both set up in the walkway. Ordering through them I could get an additional $25 off of the $680 price.

Cool breeze!

The Digital Rebel XTi has a self cleaning sensor... Every time you turn it on or off it cleans its own sensor ultrasonically...

It also has a feature called "dust delete data" in the software that will let you shoot at something white and then it picks up the little flecks and eliminates them from your photos... I don't use that software so I've not spent any time learning about it.

I have found that if I'm a bit picky about where I am when I change lenses so the camera isn't opened up and exposed to excess dust I don't seem to have issues with it.

I had my Digital Rebel XT for over a year and never found it necessary to clean the sensor in it...
