Saltwater mode in HIGHLY mineralized pulls heavy hitters.

I hit my favorite spot today here in northern California. This spot is not easy to detect. The ground doesn't let my recommend sensitivity number go higher then 9.. I cracked my manual sensitivity up to 26 or just below the point of my ears bleeding. Ground coin on, deep on, manual ground balance, and Saltwater on.. I was able to get depth of about 10".. I pulled an 1859 S Seated quarter, 1856 S/s (I think) Seated quarter, 1836 $5.00 gold (first ever gold coin. Chirped in at 12-23) and a beautiful buckle (front and back within 3 feet of each other).. I have tried to hunt this place many times but was unable to get depth.. The Saltwater setting really helped... BEST DAY EVER... I LOVE THIS MACHINE!

Dirtbag K, I have found that my CTX seems to run very stable at high sensitivity with saltwater on, so I leave it on all the time now.

Wow! I hate you right now! ;) all jokes aside thats a ridiculous day. Good work.

Amazing day. Many of us dream of days like that.

What an incredible day of hunting.......:clapping:

Wow... hunt of a lifetime right there!

Fantastic hunt! Congrats on finds of a lifetime!

Congrats on the finds. What is even more interesting is how you came to the conclusion to hunt in Sea Water mode. That is one of the differences that makes a difference with this machine. Thinking outside the box. Good for you for using your own search program and figuring out what works for you. You get and even bigger congrats for that.

Indians are my favorite coin.. kinda hard to find in my area though?? I can find 1800's gold but no indians.. hahahahaha.. The 1856 quarter is of the S/s variety.. The front is well worn but the back is pretty decent... Does anyone have any info on how to have this graded? Much appreciated.

Wow amazing congrats on an awesome hunt indeed and great thinking outside the box with seawater mode .

Simply WOW!!! And congrats on an outstanding hunt! Thanks also for the saltwater on tip! Our soil here the the Pacific NW (Portland OR area) is so bad that its common for my sensitivity to go as low as 6 on the suggested side of the screen and 12 in auto +3 mode! I have done much experimenting with manual mode and use it to sometimes try to increase a signal but found the instability not to my liking and have so far as I know always been able to still get a more stable siggnal when I switch back to auto, sorry, not advising anything! Just thinking out loud to myself here while wondering how cool its going to be to start using saltwater mode on these lousy soil conditions here!

Congrats on your amazing finds! Any single one of those would be great on any one day!

Well thank you McClod.. I started out with auto +3 and loved it because of its stability... I was hitting older spots and only finding currently lost items, I would say I would only get a 5-6" target max depth because of my sensitivity being so low.. max of 18 with auto +3.. I finally tapped into manual and never looked back... It can get real noisy at times but with the saltwater mode on, it definitely calms her down.. I found 1 silver rosy with auto +3 in 6 month and 37 silver coins with the bonus gold coin in manual in 2 month.... :) The higher the sensitivity, the deeper you get.. no higher than 6?? Oh lord, that must be brutal..

Wow D. Kevin THANKS for the info! That is so cool I'm going to start trying your method! I've found 12 silver coins since I bought my CTX last Nov. In groups of 5 and 7 over a period of several hunts but know I'm not getting the depth I would like, especially when my auto sens goes down to 15-12 or so. Can't wait to try it out on my highly mineralized soil, thanks so muchfor posting this info and your amazing finds! I just know there is more silver out there probably just outside my grasp given my current settings! I've tried lots of things but not saltwater.

HH!

ps: the 6 is when conditions at worst with soil, usually around lots of pine needles and trees it seems. Luckily its not always that bad but about like you, 18 usually tops on average. Just did some quick yard tests with manual w/ saltwater on, deep on and looks very promising! From 1 Rosie in 6 months to 37 silvers and a gold coin in 2 months...now THATS AMAZING! If it works half as well for me I'll be a happy man with you to thank!

You had a stellar day.
