Salt water beach rocks

Hi
New to this whole business, had my AT Pro for about a month, put about 70 hours on it now. I live in SE Mass, lots of beach, old fields, stone walls etc. Have gotten very good understanding tones.I can pretty much predict whats gonna come out of the hole, well not all the time! LOL

My question is when I am running on the beach (Buzzards bay/Atlantic Ocean) down on the lower tide line this time of year the beach reveals a lot of small cobble, round stones golf ball to tennis ball size. When I get down into this zone I can't reduce the chatter. Moving the coil very slow and adjusting GB/Gain/Metal/Hz seems to help a bit.
I met a fellow digger the other day and he said something about using a "Whites", what model would that be? Is it PI?

I think I figured out on Horseneck that below the sand layer is a rust colored gravel layer, fines and as big as pea stones, this layers seem to "hold" all the coin. Any way that's what I have discovered, so now I am thinking the Gold must be below the coin????? Is this correct thinking, let me know what you think!

I want to clean up the "chatter" so I can listen for fairly faint targets and go deep. I have the stock big coil.

Any help appreciated, and anyone in the Westport MA area feel free to contact me, as I have permissions to hunt lots of land here in MA/RI.

Welcome! and post your settings here Sundragon...somebody may be using some alternate settings that could work well for you...

gold is where you find it...sometimes defies logic, but generally yes, its deeper if it and a coin were dropped the same time in the same place...on hard pan or rocks, it may not sink at all and be right on the top...one thing, you WILL find it if you are looking for it with this Pro..

Hi sundragon,

Your friend was right ... You need a PI machine down in that zone of a saltwater beach. You can adjust your AT Pro all you like until you can't even hear a coin on the surface, and you will still hear the mineralization. A CTX3030 will do a fair job for a VLF machine, but even that machine will lose depth trying to cancel out the mineralization.

I beach hunt exclusively ... Use the AT Pro in dry sand, damp sand on the top of the slope of the beach ... and use the ATX for wet sand, low tide zone, and in the saltwater.

Looks like the PI is the way to go, I did manage to locate a few items in the mineralized zone by listening for slight nuances in the chatter, but boy it gets tiresome listening fatigue sets in rapidly.

I suggest that you master the Pro before moving on. It's a darn good machine. Find a couple thousand coins at least before tackling another machine. Put that sucker in the coins and have a ball.

Try manually setting the GB at 14-16, reduce the sens to stop the chatter, bring a test gold ring (with string attached) and do some testing.
The Excalibur (VLF), Infinium and ATX are great at Horseneck. I have no experience with the CTX-3030. And remember if you are not finding nickels, you will be missing the gold.
Welcome to the forum and

May the ring of gold be in your ears and its glitter in your scoop!

Thanks to all for the warm welcome, I have been tuning the GB to under 15 with the gain sens reduced to make due, but I will use the Infinium for these areas. (I have access to one).
They say the beach reveals it's goodies after a storm.

Still waiting for the first winter gale, need a good storm force southerly wind to strip the beach down.
