Salt mode..

I am learning more of the behaviors of this CZ-3D as I go here. I spent some time hunting on a small local beach this evening. A friend who lives next door to the beach tells me he sees two or three guys pounding it every evening. I got a bit of lunch money, but I didn't get any easy ones...

I did discover today that if I run in the salt mode, and get a nickel signal, I switch to the enhanced mode and check again. Seems most of the time if it's trash, it will indicate it as trash. I dug several targets that failed to remain good after the switch, and all were trash. Is this what I should be finding..?

I also did find that little melted blobs of aluminum foil are pretty sneaky too.. lol..

Dig EVERYTHING that signals above Iron. Gold can come in just about anywhere on the meter, depending on size, mass, shape, and purity. Most thing gold rings register as Foil, and I've got a couple LARGE 10K men's bands that register Zinc. I've found gold rings in every segment on the meter from Foil to Zinc. Fine gold chains, if they signal at all, will register as Iron. I have a friend that found a marked 24K ring, about a size 6 or 7, not sure how much it weighed, and it consistently air-tested High Coin. Of course, I don't have access to this ring to do a S/G test to determine if it is pure, but from the fact that you can see the design has been worn down over time, I'm sure it's pure.

I honestly don't see why I would want to switch over to enhanced to cross-check a target when hunting a beach. I'm going to dig it anyway.

A good point well taken Allen! I didn't mention that the items that I cross-checked were in the picnic area. I was avoiding digging in the sodded areas where I could.

In the future on the beach sand, I will be certain to dig every signal!

Thank you!

I am with Allen and when on a beach dig all above iron and some even dig iron going for gold earrings and small gold chains etc. but it could be a back breaker.
On land some fellow do switch modes and have come up with systems, but newvwe eoerimented myself.
Do remember the salt mode is not as deep or sensitive to gold jewelry even though the difference may be small so keep that in mind...

Around here, there's a LOT of iron in the ground. The first several months after I moved up here, I just wasn't getting a lot of depth. I ended up switching to SALT mode, and it helps by reducing the Sensitivity enough that the iron mineralization doesn't affect the depth as much. It's kind of like driving in fog with the fog lamps on.

I've also learned that I need to reduce my Sens. down to between 4 and 6, depending on the site and trash. I only run wide open on clean areas now, like sports fields and wide-open areas at a couple local parks.

Thanks for the feedback!.. I spent some time this weekend, and i couldn't seem to get a good repeatable tone.. lol.. was in a lot of trashy stuff and didn't make any good finds. Just some lunch money.. lol..

Yes.. I have found that I have to back the sens down quite a bit also. I like to run the disc on zero to hear everything, and wow!.. just some really trash infected ground this weekend!!
