I do alot of salt water beach hunting with my xs, was wondering if it would hurt to cover the vent holes on the back of my control panel with tape to keep out the salt mist.

Our Under Water Explorer is completly incased in a waterproof box and works just fine. Based on that, you should be able to cover the holes on your Explorer without a problem.

I think it would be a good idea to remove the tape between water hunts to "air" it out and prevent the build-up of moisture (ie condensation, etc).
In addition to the hipmount bag, I put my Sov in a plastic bag when I shallow water hunt but always take it out after each hunt to dry out thoroughly. Did this after finding some water accumulating inside a couple of times when I forgot to remove it. Figured it was better to be safe than sorry.
HH ... Gord.

Sounds liek a mod that the owners have made encasing the electronics inside a waterproof casing and using it underwater. A good idea for the adventurous
