Lacking in places to go right now, I'm thinking about heading down to the ocean. The spot I'm going to is a favorite striper fishing spot of mine. What can I expect from the 1250? Do I use the Salt elimination right away, or do you check conditions first? How will I know if I need that SEM? This is all Greek to me.
I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks, Rich
 
Turn it on and go for it!! I set mine to ON several years ago and never gave it another thought. That 1250 will get you some goodies if they are there.
 
Don't turn it on if you don't have too.You will loose a lot of depth doing so.
In the dry sand at the beach you won't need it.If you go to the water and your detector gets unstable even with sensitivity down, turn on the salt mode.
When salt mode on try to set sensitivity as high as possible without falsing.
My trick is to use the Power DD coil with the GTAx 1250.With that coil there is no need for the saltmode because the DD cancels the salt very well and gets great depth in the wet salt.
