Hey Shovelhead,

My mom is from Utah (born in 192:geek: and said when teenagers they always used to have big parties at Black Rock, the large tall rock just off hwy 80 a little west of Salt Air. I've always wanted to give it a try with my Safari but figure since I'm in CA I'll never get around to it. You might find some good silver and maybe some jewelry there too.

Good luck!

Hi Psyvad,
Oh yeah I have been out to Black Rock on many occasions. It was hit hard back a few years ago when the water started to go out. Lots of guys hit is real hard but they don't always get all the deep stuff. I have seen a gold love token/$5coin come out of there and found a number of good silvers there. The problem is the silver comes out really black. I have lots of pics of it with many people around it in the old days. I am sure some rings have come out of the mud out at black rock.
Thanks for the tip and checkin out my post.

good luck to you.

Hi,

My son and I just purchased new e-tracs and are learning them. We have no lack of places to hunt but are learning the basics of the machine. We are working toward becoming very good with it. I think my prior experience with a White's MXT is slowing me down some, but my son seems to be taking to the e-trac faster than I. Our dealer has us learning it in steps. We are in the Salt Lake Valley. Not much success, no silver or wheaties yet, but we have not really tried any old locations. The pinpointing is a little difficult for me wit the dd coil. We are searching in parks to learn shallow pinpointing first, then we will work deeper gradually.
