Thanks.
Barry

Hi,from what i found in the laws in ST MAARTEN no probleme to
detect there,im going my self next month.

Hope we get lucky !

Picsous save your money as barryny is going to have the jump on ya and find it all, wish you both luck there. do share the pictures of the finds.

barrny,
Since of had a multitude of other people PMing me for info on St. Maarten beaches I'll just post them here.....

Dawn Beach
Is a quite popular beach. Try by the Oyster Bay Resort.

Guana Bay
Pass on this one...Strong surf has no tree for shade almost deserted beach.

Pointe Blanche
Try this one a favorit of the locals...over looking the Great bay.

Great Bay
Try this one for sure! The beach is over a mile long....It gets a lot of cruise ship tourist at this beach.

Little Beach
As in it's name it get smaller with high tide...

Pelican Bay
This a good one....Most developed residential resort's area (aka tourist area)

Kim Sha Beach
It's tha latest gathering hot spot...This is a good one to try out!

Simpson Bay
Near the air port. It's a wide flat beach that runs from Royal Palm Beach Club past the Horny Toad Guesthouse.

Burqeaux Bay
This beach is not too busy...It got some calmer waters here.

Maho Beach
This one is right next to the air port.... touch down is about 40 yards behind the beach. Maho Beach, bordering the Maho Resort and Royal Islander Club, is a small stretch of white sandbeach. It is the location that attracts all of its visitors: The beach is located at the western end of the runway of Princess Juliana International.

Mullet Bay
a.k.a. Gold Bay!!! The name says it all...Try this one many gold finds have come from this beach. Be carefull here there is sometimes a rip current at the Bay, and the water shows strong waves here!

Cupecoy Beach
This is a small beach clothing optional...... you should still find some good stuff here and some coins. I don't know how they lose coins??? (lol)

Hope this helps on everyone's vacations!

Good Luck Buddy!!

Stay away from this place:):

Thanks DF Bandit for the great reviews of the various beaches...

Picsous - you'll have the jump on me - I won't get there until April - please report back on your finds.

OBN - you always dig up the "good stuff".....

barryny,
Thank you for the complement on the reviews....I'm glad my time could help the people here out! I've compiled folders on just about every Island in the Caribbean. Because I just started putting together some groups trips to the Caribbean myself. We got a couple this year and now I'm working next years! I'm surprised your not going up to the French side of the Island??? The French seem to like higher carat gold 18k and don't seem to mind losing it either.... I read on another forum. That this guy goes to French Islands a lot and just got back from a trip to one of them. He stated that he did the worst ever there! Something like around 60+ grams and just under 20 pieces of gold. That's $2,600.00+ some of the finds were higher than 18k so most likely $3,000.00 for just over a week! Would be hard to make that working a regular nine to five job??? Just imagine what a good week would be? $$$ HH

Hi DF - we're staying on the Dutch side but will have a car - so I'll prob try a few spots on the French side (if the wife let's me go off on my own)...do you have any ideas about beaches on that side of the island?
Also - is there any info online showing the tides? Do you wait for low tide or it doesn't make much of a difference? I'll prob be going up to waist deep max...
Thanks.

Barry,
An old timer gave me some advise once and said "Don't forget people swim during high tide too" So just get in there and have some fun ( it's what it's all about! ) I sent you a PM on the French beaches to try.... can't give away all my places here! (lol) Show your wife this picture and tell her that you might bring something back like this....... HH

Hi Barry,i did some recherche on internet for the tide, dint find anything,

if you find info for the tide let me no.

Thanks again Dual Field.
If I was looking into going on a Caribbean detecting group trip I would definitely look into one of your tours - you surely know your stuff!!
Barry

Thanks Barry for the kind words. There are a lot of old timers out there that know way more than I do! My thing is I just won't be out worked! I do a lot of research and when I get to detect. I put my time in sometimes ten to twelve hours at a whack! That can make for a long week....HH

Tanks Dual Field for the info,im going alone on that trip,it would ad been nice to go with a

group who like the same hobby. I'm going next month by my self.

Picsous,
I've been there and done that. Since your going alone have you considered using a ( PDF life vest ) that's the kind that goes in a fanny type pack and it's got a cord you can pull if you get into trouble. I got caught in a rip tide once when I was a kid. It pull me out quite a bit! At that time I didn't know to relax and let it do it's thing then swim to the side and look for a lane with out current and swim back in. I swam against the current all the way back in good thing I was a strong swimmer. Also let somebody know where you going for the day. ( somebody at the hotel maybe? ) Keep an eye out for sharks too! When I was growing up I lived not to far from Cape Cod. Me and my buddies used to do a lot of swimming once in a while (not very often) someone would bump a shark with a foot or leg nothing ever happened. But now I'm older I think how lucky we were! Watch out where you step too! A stingray barb will end your trip too. Coral can give a nasty cut as well wear something on your feet. At least the jellyfish you can put some vodka on the stings to take away some of the pain. If you find anything don't show it to anybody until your home (make no exception to that rule!) I could go on about all the things to watch for and not to do! But these are the main ones....HH

Tanks again for the info,i will have a wetsuit an neoprene boots + gloves with me and floating equipment.

For the sharks i just kick there nose with my scoop lol lol.

I hope to find enough gold to sink me to the bottom lol lol.
