Safari vs Whites MXT PRO

With all the great information in this forum as well as others, sometimes it almost make it harder to decide on an MD purchase.

I was pretty much sold on the safari( can't afford the e trac), but have been reading more on the Whites MXT Pro and now considering this MD as well.

Mostly I hunt Parks, Schools, homes etc for coin and jewelery, some beach hunting and I do have some 100+year old lumber mill sites with lots of old iron in the ground that I would like to hunt.

The addition of the prospecting mode on the MXT adds versatility as well which I wonder if it would be better for hunting jewelry in Parks, etc, than with the safari??

Of coarse finding old silver coins is one of the best thrills.

Most of my MDing is in western Washington State, GB has never seemed to be a real problem with my garret so I do not really know what the ground conditions are here which would favor one type of MD over another.

I have been using a Garrett 1250 for about 6 years and need to upgrade. I like hunting with tones and since the MXT Pro now has 7 tones for discrimination, it fits this bill, but I like all that I have read about the Safari and the e trac using the different conductive or ferrous high low tone adjustments to determine which type of tone setup would work best for my hearing .

Anyway, as I mentioned, deciding on an MD seems to get harder rather than easier so any input is greatly appreciated if you have experience using both machines

thanks
Andy

I have both machines and they are way different animals, Thats why I have both, I like hunting for old deep coins[Safari] and in parks and schools nothing better then my MXT pro or my M6 bigtime gold jewlery getters. So just buy them both.

Brocifus,

thanks for your input, someone with experience with both machines is what I was hoping for.

I know the folks over seeing these sights do not like to have competing MD's put on specific manufacture sights for comparison purposes, but it helps to go directly to the source to get good information. I expect most people that own the more high end MD's have experience with different brands and models, so I appreciate the advice.

On the Whites MXT forum page I tried to post the same message twice and it was deleted withing minutes.

I posted on the general MD forum as well, but less of a chance to get the correct persons to comment there.

If I can ask one more question of you, which MD do you think would be better at handling soil and sand with lots of old rusty iron chunks in it. This is what the ground is like at an old lumber mill sight.
Buildings are all gone and only pilings and lots of big and small chunks of iron in the ground, but it was a huge operating mill at the turn of the century 100 years ago and with all the lumber ship travel in and out of the docks and the hundreds of workers I expect there must be some hidden gems in the ground if I can do any kind of search. My Garret 1250 never had a chance in this given environment.

thanks,
Andy
