Safari vs MXT pro

With all the great information in this forum as well as others, sometimes it almost make it harder to decide on an MD purchase.

I was pretty much sold on the safari( can't afford the e trac), but have been reading more on the Whites MXT Pro and now considering this MD as well.

Mostly I hunt Parks, Schools, homes etc for coin and jewelery, some beach hunting and I do have some 100+year old lumber mill sites with lots of old iron in the ground that I would like to hunt.

The addition of the prospecting mode on the MXT adds versatility as well which I wonder if it would be better for hunting jewelry in Parks, etc, than with the safari.

Of coarse finding old silver coins is one of the best thrills.

Most of my MDing is in western Washington State, GB has never seemed to be a real problem with my garret so I do not really know what the ground conditions are here which would favor one type of MD over another.

I have been using a Garrett 1250 for about 6 years and need to upgrade. I like hunting with tones and since the MXT Pro now has 7 tones for discrimination, it fits this bill, but I like all that I have read about the Safari and the e trac using the different conductive or ferrous high low tone adjustments to determine which type of tone setup would work best for my hearing .

Anyway, as I mentioned, deciding on an MD seems to get harder rather than easier so any input is greatly appreciated.

thanks
Andy

The Safari will perform better on the beach. The MXT will find those gold nuggets, but you didn't say you were prospecting.

Goodmore,

The MXT having the prospecting mode gives added versatility as I would like to try sometime, but most time is spent parks, schools, etc, in the dirt looking for coins.jewelery.

thanks,
Andy

I don't know the Safari, but the prospecting mode in the MXT is essentially an all metal mode if that makes a difference to you.

The Safari is a full lb. lighter than the MXT Pro, but you will cover more ground with the MXT...
