Safari / or Water unit

Enrique

New member
Hi looking at maby going with safari but am going to florida and will be using Detector on beach and shallows Should I invest in a PI water unit or with the Safari I am from Michigan and will use it mostly around land sites and around lakes/ beaches and can,t afford both. Thanks

Safari works great on the beach in wet or dry sand. It is equally impressive away from the coast. I would go with the Safari.

Yes I am leaning in that direction can you submerse the coil on the safari say 6" or so? Thanks for the Input

Yes, you can submerse the coil. Be sure to clean under the coil cover afterwards to reduce the chances of falsing.

Enrique,

Left this on the Infinium forum also.

I have both the Infinium and a Quattro which is the old Safari.

If you work the treasure coast you can only detect down to the mean Low tid line so only about knee deep as the waves come in, this is due to the leases on the wreaks and Florida state law. Other locations outside of the treasure leases are wide open.

I use my Quattro in water to just above my knees, you need to have a teather on it and don't fall over in the water, I have come close. As a beach unit it is great. You will get a wicked arm workout unless the Safari coils are not bouyant, my old Quattro coil will want to come to the surface. If you plan on more dry land that water hunting you should go for the Safari as high trash areas such as parks with the Infinium will leave you wondering what is going on with all the tones.

It sounds like a Safari is more what you need.

I just purchased my safari about 6 weeks ago and live in western PA. I have already been to the beach detecting and have had a awsome experience with the safari! It is built better than any other machine I have had. I have had everything from bountyhunters to the Whites DFX-300. And if you do purchase a safari or any other detector I would strongly advise you to take a look at www.Kellyco.com, I have been using them for years now and they offer lifetime customer support if you are having trouble with your detector. But to tell you the truth, the safari is a ready to go machine, all you do is turn it on and select a mode and go! I love the fact that you can very easily reject certain targets or their numbers that are produced on the readout screen.
