Pin pointing with the Safari can be difficult at times. Depending on the size of the target, to make pin pointing easy on all targets I first get a general location by " X ing" the target. You can raise the loop off the target to narrow the signal, sometimes you can locate without the pinpoint mode. If you don't feel comfortable with the targets location, switch on the pin point mode and raise the loop off the target to narrow the signal, because you don't have have to have the loop moving to get a signal you can move the loop real slow to pin point to center of the target under the loop. Another trick is to switch to pin point close to the target, this will condense the signal to make pin pointing easier to use. With practice you will be able determine the object size and shape using these methods. Good pin pointing is the key to prevent disappearing targets, also remember coins on edge from digging can disappear from detection. A good pin pointing detector can be very helpful when digging.
Keep in mind that the depth indicator is more accurate with coin sized objects, target size, halo effect and soil conditions will affect its accuracy.
Get in the habit of listening to the sounds first and get very familiar with your detectors sounds. The Safari has a symphony of sounds, it will take some time to get to familiar with this language. Just remember that its the repeating sounds that mean treasure, "X"ing, raising the loop will help you sort out the signals. Close by targets good and bad will cause the symphony to sound off, stick to the basics and dig. Its OK to dig iffy signals to learn the language.
