Sadie, my loyal friend..........

Kelley (Texas)

New member
Took this picture early evening of my dog, Sadie. She is getting to be an older dog, face turning white around the nose and mouth. I have had her for nine years and still remember the day we got her. A friend working in Houston called me late one evening wanting to know if I would like to have a dog to replace the one that I had lost to old age earlier that year. He told me that the dog was a young dog that had been badly beaten by a worker using a short length of 2 X 4 lumber. My friend had confronted the worker, and then took the dog to the vets. Two weeks later I finally got my new dog. She was still showing the affects of the abuse, but we were glad to have her. Over time, Sadie became a loyal friend, always at my side where ever I went. She loved roaming the pastures at the old home place, but has adapted to city life just fine. She knows that she is loved. Kelley (Texas) :)

Picture taken with a Sony A200 DSLR camera with a Sony 18-70mm kit lens, F7.1, 1/25, ISO 100, Manual Mode, used Histogram as aid to get proper exposure.

Kelley,

SADIE IS BEAUTIFUL! You just reminded me that I need to take a few photos of SUGAR. Sugar was destined for animal research in at a B dealer buying operation in Poplar Bluff, Missouri about 14 years ago. I was there taking down license plate numbers, taking photos and shooting video. I was threatned by an old fart who asked if I wanted to see his shot gun and went to his truck. Little did he know that I had an Austrian STG-53 in my car, and I am one hell of a shot.

Sugar escaped from them, and I scooped her up and put her in my car. She was such a kissy dog that it kind of put me off, and I paid more attention to the princess in my life, a little beagle terrier mix. Now, out of the seven resuces that I once had, she is the suvivor. She began to walk with her butt all twisted to one side. Last year, I rescued a little beagle pointer mix who began to play with Sugar, and pull at her legs. Her butt is back on center. I pay a lot of attention to her now as she approaches is in her 15th or 16th year, and regret having practically ignored her early on. She is a sweet old lab black lab mix, and when she leaves, it is going to tear me up. Whatever room that I am in, she is in. I can cross the hall to go to the bathroom, she gets up and follows me.

These B dealer operations sell to animal research. They have what are known as BUNCHERS who pick up strays and steal dogs right out of your yard and sell them to dealers like the one who operated out of Arkansas, and came to Poplar Bluff every Friday. He became a millionare and paid off a lot of federal agents and others to do what he did. He got a fine but no jail time, even though he laundered money, etc, His place was a hell hole. Curelty, dead dogs, etc.

I do beleive that Poplar Bluff was featured in the HBO Movie ...."DEALING DOGS." I bought a copy of it, but could not bear to watch it, because I saw it every Friday for about four years.

I know that you treasure Sadie. I love my Sugar. Thank you for reminding me to take some photos of her. I have a couple, but a couple won't be enough when she leaves.

All the best, Kelley,

Nes
