Met up with Park Pirate this again this morning hoping to snag those last 4 coins to hit the 1000 mark. Good signals were no where to be heard today. Started digging deep nickel signals in hope of finding a V or buffalo. Was getting real tired of digging beaver tails and can slaw but was finally rewarded with a 1908 V nickel. A few more deep signals resulted in a United Traction Company school token and one of those presidential tokens. After Park Pirate threw in the towel, I headed to another area of the park where I hoped to snag a few more nickels. After digging more can slaw I was finally rewarded with another V nickel, this time a 1912. Digging all those nickel signals paid off when I dug a nice gold band. Picture doesn't do it justice. I can't see any mark but it appears to be solid gold, not plated. Dug a couple of newer Jefferson nickels before the old back told me I had enough ! Hopefully the weather will stay nice so I can get those last 2 coins before the big freeze sets in !

Guess that answered my question on gold lol. Great find. A lot of people used those tokens for buttons same as the curtain weights.

Now your talking I likes me some GOLD congrats! I extended my gold streak today to 4 days in a row with a 4+ gram gold....wait for it...crown tooth lol.

Nice finds - that's a pretty ring. The United Traction token is attributed to Albany, NY, circa 1921 (according to my book on transportation tokens). HH
