S-5 & Tornado 10" Coil Seperation Tests/Comparisons

I managed to get out yesterday for my first hunt since hurting my finger. Found that I could use my right hang using my thumb/index finger to grip the grip and not have to use my middle finger as my custom GT is very light. Was using the 12x10 and my friend brought his Etrac. We went to an old park that had a pond in the 1800's (drained these days and is mowed grass). In the 1800's they used to cut ice from this pond for ice houses and people used to swim and ice skate there. It is LOADED with tiny bits of iron and tiny hot rocks. Even in Auto my threshold was going in and out. My friend's Etrac seemed to be giving him even worse trouble as I hit on several clads that gave clean signals while he said he was having trouble with getting any kind of good signals even after running auto sens down to -3 and running fast on, high trash density, deep off. It was huntable for me while he was having fits or at least it seems more trouble. He was using ferrous tones too to help and Andy's coin program, then switched to a coins only program to try to quiet things down for him.

Anyway, this spot is prime for a 5" coil so today I'm going back with my S-5. This should help my hand even more making my machine even lighter. Just glad I found I could hunt with thumb/index finger with my lighter GT build. Felt great to get out. This is one of the worste spots I've ever hunted in terms of iron/hot rocks so I think there are many coins to be found with a little coil. It was not filled. Still matches up to the old pics I've seen of the pond/ground contours/etc. Just tons of human activity over the years and many nails from the ice house and such. Will let you know how this coil does there. A friend pulled a nice barber quarter out of there a few years back but that's been about it due to the iron. It's a hiddensite at the end of a dead end street with a modern park on it now so even if somebody found it they wouldn't think it had potential so I think it hasn't been worked hard, and even then you'd need a good machine, a tiny coil, and a lot of patience to do this spot justice. Even with a small coil I know the coin signals might only be boderline and say 60% "coin" or less, so I'll work the edges of the junk and nulls and dig real junky coin signals.
