S-12 and water-proof connectors on EXCAL.

So I decided to change my coil on my Excalibur from the stock 800 to an awesome 12 incher from SunRay. I also put on water-proof connectors.

I did get lots of help from others on the forums, so, thanks to all of them who did.

First thing is that it's a weird feeling opening up such an expensive machine, or cut wires for an additional accessory. Especially when the main coil cable wires are hard wired to something.

Once the cable is cut from the stock coil, you will notice that there are 4 individual wires. Red, Black, White, and Yellow. According to Doc's Place, the colors have changed from older machines.

It is also a good idea to start placing the coil parts that need to be on the cable side on , and pushed back. Don

I saw your pics on the water proof connecters, you did a great job. Can you please tell me where I can purchase the water proof connecters, I want to remove an 8" coil on my Excaleber and put a 10" on . thanks Pat. patmmr@aol.com

Nice Job! So do you thing this will hold up to water pressure? Would modifications like this work on an Excal that is going to be taken down to 10, 20, 30 ft?

I'm doing the same thing and have found these connectors so far.

http://www.sunraydetector.com/waterproof_5.htm ($25.00 ea. + S&H)

I also need to figure out what coil(s) to use. DOC told me that "Sovereign WOT coils are compatible with Excalibur coils, but not Explorer. Explorer coils are compatible with Quatro machines."

My current EXCAL coils has died and I want to replace it with another ~8" coil, as well as perhaps a small 4" coil for really trashy areas.

*** please post anything you find out that could be helpful and I'll do the same!

Thanks , I've installed an older Sovereign 10" coil on my Excalabur works great, also the WOT will work on the Excalibur with no problems, good luck. Water Hunter.

Do you know where to get extra cable that will work for the Excal? I'll need this in order to set up a couple different coils and I also need to make a few different adaptor lengths for different applications. Thanks for any info!

I can't believe how things change. My Excal is now sporting the Gray Ghost headphones, and I went to a 10-Tornado coil.

As far as the waterproof connectors are concerned, @mcmaster, there are some by 'brad harrison' and they seem to be the way to go. Kudos to Charles of NY for finding these. He posted about them somewhere, I just can't find the particular post.

One of the part numbers that I am prolly going to buy is: 6897k47 So if you type that into the search engine, it should take you to the page where they have all of the better ones, and they are a bit cheaper, especially if you are going to buy more than just 3.

My plan is to retro fit my Excal and Sov and then get another S-12 to have a total of 4 coils between my 2 machines.

laterz and sorry for the late update.
