Rutus jupiter is a new detector designed to the European conditions and it is made in Poland: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsm8udd2ZSM
It has many great features and good build quality at a sensible price.:detecting:

Seems to me like an XLT with most of the programs eliminated. XLT & DFX have programable tone ID.....Jack

Rutus jupiter has all the necessary adjustments, simpler detector if ofter better and it also have a adjustable recovery speed similar to the likes of Whites V3 or Xp Deus, to make it very fast or slower in recovery speed depending how much iron/trash the search site contains, many detectors dont even have a adjustable recovery speed at any price. I will be watching this detector and it also has few promising fieldtests conducted in England, lots of good detectors coming from Europe these days.:clapping:

Hmmm....maybe that is why we don't have it. We don't know what it is.

My definition of programable tone id = the ability of the user to apply different tones or pitches to particular discrimination ranges, either by category or by TID numbers.

The Whites QXT has a limited version of this - 1 tone that could be applied one or more disc range segments.
The DFX/XLT has a limited version of this - in mixed mode, the reject tone can be changed to give a high tone alert for a TID or range of TID numbers, thereby allowing one to reject the targets they actually want to be alerted too with a tone that they picked out.

There are several models that let you vary the pitch of a single tone.

Only Whites V3/V3i has a true programable tone id, however, it isn't in the affordability class, unless you wait a few more years for the prices to drop on the used ones.

This Rutus Jupiter has programable tone id for 499 pounds sterling. Still in the 800 dollar range for us with the rate of exchange being what it is, but a very affordable unit for them.

Why can't we here in the USA get an affordable 400 - 500 dollar unit that has programable tone id?

Still waiting to find a field test by someone other than Gary, who helped developed this detector. Not that I don't trust him (he seems to know what he's talking about) but he's not likely to be one to point out weak spots. It sure does look interesting so it would be nice with an independent test but so far I haven't seen one, aside from positive comments on Gary's forum.

no wifi headphones facility ,not for me .all new machines should have a facility for wirless headphones built in .

So far I've only seen two models with wireless headphones facility built in and at about 3 times the price of the Rutus (and no with wifi). In light of that I would rather spend less than 200 dollars on a transmitter and wireless headphones if I find a detector I like.
