Well I had to hit two lakes today for fun. The first lake I have pulled a few old gold out of and today was no exception. I got a very iffy signal that I knew was deep. I dug and dug and finally had the target on top It was so murky I couldn't see a thing, felt around and got the target and stones in my hand. Moved to cleaner water and found the old signet ring. Made my day!! No silver at this lake just a lot of new coins and the old ring.

The second lake I was told there was a class ring at. Didn't find it but I did find the very small 10K ring and the other rings. The big one isn't marked and I have no idea what it is yet. The other two look plated and the last one is a mood ring.

22 quarters, 28 dimes, 12 nickels and 27 pennies were my coins. Not one silver or wheat cent. Thanks for looking.

No Bob, BUT I have hit these lakes HARD over the years. When I first started about 6 years ago, I was getting 2 - 6 gold rings a dive. Very old gold rings. I also was finding lots of silver and wheat's. These are small swim areas. Outside them is 6 - 8 foot tall weeds, impossible to detect. So its possible I have cleaned out these lakes of old stuff UNTIL I find a detector that goes a lot deeper, AND that will NOT include a PI!!! The first lake I went to is so loaded with bobby pins its unbelievable. The bath house goes back to 1859. The second lake has been a public beach since the 1800's also. Only lake in Michigan so far that I found seated coins in. BUT the lake is small and doesn't allow boats with motors. Crystal clear and again was full of old coins and rings until I found it!!

My underwater hoover does a pretty good job. That class ring is out there though. I just didn't get my coil over it yesterday. Another class ring that was lost in this lake took me over a year to find. I can't get it all, even though I would love to. Fortunately for me only a handful of people know about or detect these lakes as its too far for most of my detector friends to drive, but only 45 minutes from me.

I know you said no PI machines, but do you ever think about getting the Garrett Infinium PI, since it has adjustable discrimination? I wonder if it looses depth as you adjust up the disc? Just a little disc would get rid of those bobby pins.

Cool!
