3 years ago as I was hunting a balllfield a young guy came over and told me about a lady coach who lost a gold ring. This field isn't local to me but I hunt it a couple times a yr. Field always has its share of Clad, junk rinks, & alum slaw. Went back yesterday for second time this yr. with the Compadre intending to dig everything. Well guess what, someone's been in there & cleaned it up pretty good. Kind of strange tho, they cleaned up most of the clad and really cleaned up most of the alum. , tabs, etc. BUT they left the pennies! Except for it being cold I had a nice hunt, 47 coins 34 of them pennies. The gold ring, who knows? But it sure was nice not having to dig much trash for a change.

Was the guy digging, or stabbing? I hate it when somebody comes up and tells me somebody lost a gold ring where I'm hunting! Especially when they dont know exactly where! I tend to get all the little aluminum and tabs out of there for the next guy, and keep on going back looking for it..maybe that trash digger got it and left?.

Do you mean they left all the Zinc pennies? I know that MANY coin hunters don't want to even fool with picking them up if they see laying on the ground, much less go to the trouble of pin-pointing them and digging them.

Unfortunately from looking for gold rings for individuals they are never where they feel they lost them. Also might want to consider that someone eyeballed when first lost and its long gone....
