Does anyone on the Tesoro forum use a Royal Sabre ? If so do you like the results from your Royal Sabre ? Thank you all.

Wirechief, i still use my Royal Sabre now and then. cant seem to part with it even though i gernerally use others that i have but i have owned the royal since it was new and its in great shape. Its till fun to use now and then even though its an older model it was state of the art in its time....Markmac

Love mine, and like markmac use it from time to time with 5.75" coil. lt is superfast and deep. I can adjust the notch disc. knob while in reg. disc. and have the tones break at pulltabs (most of them) and have a 3-tone id. High, mixed, and low tones. The notch is great in the really rough areas. About it's only downfall is that it doesn't have the ED-120 disc and thus is a little more susceptible to target masking in some iron-infested areas. I once used the ACCEPT feature and found a silver half in a screwcap-infested area at about 7". I NEVER use the surface blanking feature as I once nearly missed a quarter on the surface. The pinpoint feature is really a slow-retune a/m mode and the Royal is so fast I never use the pinpoint feature. It's the only reason I don't have a Golden umax.

Oldie but goodie, like gold rings and notch used correctly was way ahead of its time for a non-metered unit. Certainly no depth demon but a good local parks unit and good old Tesoro still carries parts for these oldies with excellent service to compliment that aspect...having used every notch Tesoro ever made it seems to me the Royal only had one tone below and above the notch
and the high and low tone didn't come into being until the golden sabre plus was introduced but time dulls the memory and slingshot may be correct...also have to add these oldie but goodies had spot on pinpointing and all one had to carry is a screwdriver for shallow targets...

It was basically a two-tone machine and in the normal discriminate mode, with the notch feature off, you could adjust where objects would fall as far as low or high tone.By carefully maneuvering the control, you could reach a point where most tabs would give a dual mixed tone, and the silver would give the high tone with the nickel giving the low tone.

Ok mighty fine everyone and even for it's age it appears to be a bang up detector yet. I appreciate the response guy's and may everyday be a Tesoro day. Be safe.
