was outside the window here. He was bouncing around so I shot it fast thru the window and got this shot. This was zoomed in from perhaps 50 yards away. Sure are a beautiful bird. I see them a lot in your web cam on the tree behind the temp guage. Nice treat to have one here close by.

are usually pretty shy but every once in a while we get one that is not so timid. That is a treat to see them close.

Beautiful day here today. I am working on my canoe as I have decided I am gonna do some gill fishing this spring when they get on their beds. At least that is the plan right now. Morels will be up in a month or so too

I have seen them knock out electrical transformers on power poles to houses, there use to be a reset button's on them. We had this problem a lot at my grandfathers place. They got started on my grandfathers house up at his ranch. Pecked holes all in the siding of his house. After my grandfather died a couple years ago, my uncle went and put Hardie panel siding, a concrete type siding on the house so the woodpeckers couldn't peck holes all in it. Well it took them about 3 months to peck holes in it. My uncle called me a told and told me about all the damage they were doing to the ranch, I told him they were a Northern Wood Pecker, migrating down here in the winter. They can peck though any thing. You guys know how it is, the further you get away from home the harder the pecker gets.
