Royal GT headphones

Ward

New member
My V came with Royal GT headphones, I don't want to do wireless (too much money), but would like to know if these are decent headphones, or would a plug in upgrade help.

If an upgrade will help, please recommend a set of headphones...............Ward

Hi Ward,

I got the Eagles with mine and they are a good set, but I already owned a set of Sun Ray Pro "Gold" HP's and really love them in a corded HP. I got the cordless with my V and love them, all but I use a Garrett Pro Pointer and need to take the cuff off one ear to hear the PP. I'm still learning with the wireless so maybe there is something else I can do to hear the PP without removing one ear cup.

I hope its cooler where you are, this heat is killing me! :heh:

I've seen the Whites wireless headphones for less than $200. Save your money and buy em when you can. They are undeniable priceless in the field.

I hope Whites makes a lightweight hot weather set.

I use the garrett pro pointer with my WHP with little problem. Yes, the HP muffle the audio of the pro pointer but I can feel the vibration pretty well (but i don't usually have gloves on in the pasture I hunt).

I think i'm going to try my Grey Ghosts HP (with separate R & L volume controls) for adjusting the all metal side of stereo mixed mode...

To answer the original question they are OK, if the cord doesn't break at the strain relief. ROB

You can also try the Radio Shack wireless earbuds along with a right angle 1/4" adapter for the headphone jack. The Radio Shack earbuds run about $79.00.
I bought a set for my DFX and can also use them on my V3i. Sometimes when it is really hot outside I use the wireless earbuds on the V3i.

Mount the transmitter portion(about 1.5" square) on the control box using velcro.Does not get in the way when mounted as such. Sound quality is very good, however,
if it is very windy outside or there is quite a bit of extraneous noise, could pose a problem with hearing the weaker target sounds. Overall I am pleased with them.

I went to my Radio Shack today and they said that the wireless earbuds hp they are not making them no more.:cry:

I would call around and see if any stores still have them in stock. A sale price usually means a discontinued item they want purged from inventory..... not always though.

I've seen them around within this last month. They did have a discontinued tag. There are other ones out there that work well enough and believe a nice alternative was mentioned on the MXT forum?
