Route 66

Several years ago I detected a spot along the Lincoln Highway (later US 40 in Wyoming) that had a gas station and store. The buildings were gone but there was a shallow pond which was dry when I was there. I decided it must have been a wishing pond because I found over 50 wheat pennies in it, mostly 1930s and earlier. There are several places around here - Utah - where there are sections of old US highways I want to check out when I get the time to travel a little. You should be able to find some good places along Route 66. Good luck and keep us up to date on your finds.
i got the chance to detect on rt 66 a couple of times last week on my trip to las vegas by way of rt 40 an since rt 66 was close i would stop once in a while for a few minutes didnt find much as i was just doing to say i did it but ill bet you there are some great finds out the . I stopped at the coninetal divide little store an checkout a spot an found the builkding had burned down an someone had died in the fire. all i got was a dime at that location. but it was fun.
