Roundness in the poc found today.

Found these two roundness in the poc in the same poc today. They mike at approx. 1 1/4 ". I'm assuming they are buck and ball since they were found on a War of Northern Agression battlefield.

I don't know what a poc is you'll have to ask those guys from the diggers program. They say it all the time and I personally think its stupid along with some of their other antics. Its been going over in my head so I had the opportunity to use it. I think they maybe referring to finding a coin for their pocket.

I've been told these are grape shot. I agree I was trying to think of the other round balls but got stuck on buck and ball. I thought they were a little larger than .69 cal.

Buck and balls are all LEAD, not iron. Good guess, but no cigar. Keep hunting and you'll find them. Sometimes the 3 buck on top of the road ball leave an indenture where they were placed inside the paper cartridge. You can find some balls with those indentions, though the bucks are long-gone. :)

I actually found 9 lead balls in the same vicinity of these grape shot. I assumed they were musket balls. They mike at 3/4".

POC is pocket, I think. Are the diggers members of the forum? Maybe they will answer this for definitive closure?

War of northern aggression? Sore loser... Lol

War of northern aggression because individual sovern states chose to exercise there legal rights and withdraw from the union and were aggressively attacked and forced to remain. So, since then the parameters of the union has changed, but at that time it was perceived as a constitutional option under the government structure that did exist. Since then the power of the federal government has far overpowered the once sovern states, for the good, or the bad. Before the war, I would have considered my self a Virginian first, since the outcome, I am an american first. It is a fundamental change from the original founding of the confederation of states. It was not originally about slavery but it became that by the genious of Lincoln. Men fight for moral reasons far longer than political ones ( the north was rioting by 1863). Read unrevised history books. My thoughts and opinion. BTW, glad it turned out the way it did.
