Round coil for G2?

John(Tx)

New member
I just prefer using round coils over oval ones. I mostly use the small 5" on my G2 and have had outstanding results with it. My deepest coin has been a measure 8" quarter which came out a green color. On our last outing my hunting partner used his 5"x10" oval and I used the 5". He found 38 quarters, I found 42. He found 12 dimes, I found 28. Pennies were about the same. Just wondering if there is a 8" round coil that will work on the G2. thanks

I don't know about what "will work," or not, but I know that First Texas recommends only DD coils made specifically for the G2/Gold Bug Pro, or for the Teknetics "Greek" line of detectors. There is no round DD coil produced by First Texas for these units. Don't know about any aftermarket coils of this size made for these units, either...

I always go back and reread Dave J's sticky at the top of this forum on F coils on Gold Bugs when this comes up. One of these days I will slip the 10 inch concentric on the GB Pro just to see what happens. :surprised:

Since the 5" is round on the outside only and DD inside, glueing a round 10' frizbee on the 10' DD eliptcal would accomplish what you want.
