Last spring took 6 year old grandson detecting first time.Ilive in house built in 1910 ,found interesting things with old groundhog. still didnt intrest him the way i thought i t should. so Iplanted a susan b anthony gold colored coin and let him dig up .Most memorable time of my life and Iam fairly old.He is now hooked on metal detecting at 6 years old because of that .dont know whether to tell him any different. not for a while huh:

Some things are better left unsaid...well done !

I did the same with a 1820"s silver half and he ain't swung a detector since. Must have figured he could never beat that.

Maybe in about ten years U could tell him, if he is still hooked on detecting. Nice story. Go plant some more targets and reel him in , and then one day if he still likes detecting , tell him about the bait U planted and remember the look on his face.
