Rose GOLD Ring - Yellow GOLD Bracelet :surprised:

Out of Order

New member
Wow.. what a week i've had!! And today was topped off with GOLD!

Did alittle research on google maps to find spots along the main river here in Sydney, and noted a spot only 15min drive from where i live. Man what a tough beach to ground balance, at one point the pin point mode was useless, had to rely on short sweeps to pinpoint a target.. i tried noise cancel, lowering the sensitivity.. with no luck. I could only really put it down to the fact the beach was full of shells and that could have boosted mineralisation. All that said, it turned out to be a pretty good day. The ring and bracelet has been clean up alittle, but needs more work to get them looking good. The ring looks to have a stone inset. These items were so dirty that i suspect they had been in the ground for a very long time. I also found a 4gig usb stick, still works.. had a game on it - counterstrike. lol. and a few modern coins.

can someone give me tips on cleaning these items?

thanks.

Nice finds, nice pictures! If you don't have a tumbler, here's how I'd clean your finds being that there are just a few of them. Put about an inch of white vinegar in a small stainless steel pot and bring it to almost a boil before putting your coins in and stirring them around with a spoon until they start cleaning up. When looking pretty good remove them, rinse very well and dry off before touching them up on a fine grade plastic scouring pad. Sometimes I'd add just a tiny bit of salt or something similar to the vinegar to speed up the cleaning process. Just be sure and never do this to a valuable coin.

OutofOrder, Nice finds..keep up the research, it clearly pays off. Do the ring and bangle have identifying marks? i.e. Is the purity of gold identified...if not, they may be gold plated, and any cleaning process will probably remove the plating. If they are solid gold i.e. 9ct, 10 ct etc etc, then gentle cleaning with white vinegar or electrolysis should do the trick. I usually just soak in white vinegar for a short while....silver which has gone black needs special care an attention, but gold should clean up pretty easily most of the time...your jewellery doesn't seem to have a lot of verdigris on it, and that is why I ask if they are plated, as the discolouration could be coming from where the plating has deteriorated. Good luck.
