Roscue2, are you about ready for your day trip to Yosemite? :)

Last Saturday another Geology class went up, and from what I heard the weather was perfect. 70F, Merced River running high, waterfalls at full flow... And surprisingly there was still some snow in the valley and, of course, the back country. HH and GL

if time allows be sure to go to Glacier Point.....you get a bird's eye view of the whole valley....
by the time you are in Yosemite I would think the road to Glacier Point will be accessible....

Unfortunately Detector, from what I was told by the class that has already gone up we (the students) will be required to go to certain points in the valley and listen to short lectures about the geology of the park and fill out a worksheet. I would love to hike up the 4 (LONG) mile trail, and then back down, but that is literally a 8 hour hike. Of course, there is always the option of taking a bus up and back from Glacier Point, but even that option might not allow me sufficient time to get there and back before the bus leaves.

I have decided, however, to hike, and this time successfully finish, the Valley Half Loop trail, which is a leisurely 6 miles round trip beginning and ending at Camp 4. Last June when I went up there the day after graduation I attempted it, but made a slight mistake in the map, causing me to go off course for an hr. This time I will get it done right!!

If it weren't for the class requirements, however, I would be very tempted to do the Glacier Point hike in 8-9 hrs.

Honestly, hiking has always been a little bit funner to me than mding.

There will be photos Kelley! Thinking of landscape, buildings, critters (most likely little ones), and maybe even some art if I can get the many painters and drawers to let me take a quick photo of their work. The art people produce while spending a day up there relaxing is amazing. Another idea I have, but am not sure I will do, is taking photos of other photographers from behind or the side as they are taking photos of some of the landmarks up there. Its an idea I have been contemplating for about a month now.

There's a road to Glacier Point if you drive up....

Be careful as rockslides are common in Spring as the ice cracks rock and when the tha comes things fall...

Love Yosimite when I lived out there... Gods handiwork in a small concentration...
