I am thinking about getting in to the "hunt" since I live in Florida I would like to have a detector tha works in water but won't brake me. Could you fine gents and ladies point me in the right direction as to what kin of equipment I should look for?

many thanks

Something cheap will only put a hole in your pocketbook. One of our advertisers on this forum, Kellyco, is located in central Florida. Call or pay them a visit, they have plenty of new and some used to choose from.

What area of Fl. do you live in? There should be a Metal detecting club close to where you live and they would be able to help you or at least show you some different detectors. Also as Bobbie said Kellyco in Winter Springs Fla. has a large selection with very informative personal to help you decide on what is best, for the amount you have to spend. Good Luck and HH

morocotas, I sent you a PM with a little info.

If you are planning on getting into the water everything is going to be expensive. The machine will have to be waterproof. You will need a long handled scoop and some dive booties for your feet and probably a wet suit and a pouch for your goodies. It is a good idea to find a club and join. You will learn so much that way to get you started. Also Kellyco can help you out with whatever you need. It will be expensive but in the long run the finds you will dig up will pay for your trips over and over again. You can also get on the internet and forums and find used equipment for sale. They have a buy and sell link on the forums. I prefer to have my detectors brand new. Don't want someone elses problems. Just my opinion. Or maybe you can find someone who has a machine you can try out just to see how you do with it. Good Luck!
