Would really appreciate your thoughts...Will be using October-April in Florida...I am brand new to this hobby, and would appreciate any or all help thanks! And if not this detector, your opinions on a better bang for the buck detector....

Yes the Quattro is a good choice but the 16.5 coil will be a difficult swing.
I have a Quattro for sale with 3 coils, Grey Ghost headset, rain cover and book for sale..........take a look!!
SunRay S-12 coil is a better coil, is more precise, easy to pinpoint and greater depth.
I will include shipping to the lower 48 states if you are interested.............this is an excellent buy for a great machine, you will need nothing else.
I am strickly a water hunter now and I am not using the Quattro any longer and it is in excellent condition.

Please check the classifieds...........I am a regular poster here.

Rookie, That is the exact combination I use..Learn to pinpoint with the stock 10" coil first..The 16.5 Excelerator does give you better depth, but you have to swing low and slow. (keep the coil as close to the ground and as level as possibe and keep your swing slow and deliberate). The Quattro doesn't react to target signals as fast as the Sov or Excal, but does have a shorter learning curve. Get Andy Sabich's book on Mastering the Quattro. Great help and learning tool..Where in Florida will you be hunting? HH Palm Bay Pirate

Have home in Sebring, so either coast will work for me...Sounds like a lot of fun, exercise, and mentally stimulating....Will be down in one week for next 6 months!!
