Hello All,
This is my first post. I'm a month into this thing and I'm hooked! My first detector was a Garrett Ace 350 - of which my best find in a month was an 1897 Indian. I'll take it. But, but..things are lookin' up. Last night, I bought an E-Trac from one of the members of this site - THINGS ARE LOOKIN' UP !!! So now, I'm fired up about my quest for my first silver. Any words of wisdow from all of you veterans??? Any bets on how many hours of swingin' it will take me to land it??

Sounds like you have plans to change your name to "Silverman no. 2,3 or 4" !!!!!

Good luck! I I'll be swingin mine for the first time today!

Jeff

I have had mine since Feb. and have found 29 silvers with it. And I have not hunted much in the last 4 weeks. The e-trac is a silver seeking machine. Just make sure you are in areas where it should be and you will find it. I do not consider myself an expert on the e-trac yet but I love it.

Hello Damar2003 - just saw your tip somewhere on diggin' all the 12-13's.....the nickel sweetspot ! Great tip...thank you!

Best of luck with the E-trac! The E-trac is very easy to use, but it can be a bit overwhelming at first if you are not used to the Minelabs. Make sure to read over the manual and the Andy Sabisch E-Trac book and you'll cut a lot of time off the learning curve.

That machine served me well, and it's a bit sad to see the empty spot on my wall where it used to hang.

ZOFCHAK - thanks for the advice and great detector. A real class act - both of you! Ha. Can't wait to swing it this weekend!

The stock coil is super fantastic but it can be a little difficult to learn in high trash sites, it just sees so much ground. In this case I would suggest a small DD coil which reduces the depth a little and reduces the sweep width as well but you can really open up your screen and minimize your discrimination without audio overload and not miss any good targets. The smaller coil + TTF + the right discrimination + S L O W steady-even swings will shorten the learning curve.
There are hundreds of tips here and some of the best have already been listed. Just read on, and get out there and have fun.
