Since you guys have been the most help and we seem to work together good..lol...I have to dang excited....6 of us going to hunt a park that has over a hundred year history it has been flooded several times and then going to my old High School to fight the Iron infested bleacher section again thats where I found a 1918 Wheat and 1909 O mint Barber then it is off to some old old home steds.One is still standing it is over 130 years old the other is where my grandmother was born it is gone but I know the location,the other is well over a hundred years old and there use to be an old log barn by it they took it down and sold the logs so who knows what is there.Then it is off to my Great Grand Fathers home sted I found out he use to bury money in mason jars I was 15 when he died and he was 93.
I cannot say I am going to cover it all but I am going to hit it all hard for the next few weeks so I will keep you all posted,I am getting excited now that I know I am hitting deep and like my new settings.Wish me luck.
Fred you might be coming to West Virginia sooner then you think...lol...

Rick,
If you get some of those areas that is nail infested make sure you use a smaller coil. I have the X8 and the X12 and I got a chance to try the X5 today in a area I have been over many time with differnt detector. It is trashy as this is where they had the picnics and the grills for cooking. It is very trashy with nail, pulltabs and melted alum can. In the 45 minnutes I was there I got 2 silver rosie in with the trash with the X5 where I wasnt able to before with the other coils or other detectors. Both the dimes had trash or nails in the hole with the dimes, I did dig some small pieces of melted alum cans too and many pieces of copper wire too that were short and fat.
I wish you luck on your site and hope to see you post some great finds with your Explorer.
Good Luck
Rick

Rick;
Sounds like some good sites. Just remember it has to be there to be able to find it. I've got a site that I KNOW has old silver but have not found any yet. Will still keep looking but just may not be there.
don't get discouraged if you don't find any right away.

It sure would be nice if you found some other goodies your grandfather left. Hopefully we will see a lot of pics of your finds. I dug up some wheaties today that were 7 inches that reset seems to have done the trick. No good dates I'll still take them anyway. Lets us know how the hits are on your good deep finds maybe we came come up with some more good tricks. Oh that other object I found might be a slave tag saw one on ebay similar to it will post a pic later on still cleaning.
Good Luck
HH Mike
