ROMAN BUCKLE FOUND?

banditicey

New member

This was unearthed years ago by a MD while we lived in Israel during the first Gulf War

I suppose I should put it in the Whats It but I am fairly sure it is a Roman Buckle

What Do You Think?

I don't know Bandit. I did a quick google search of images and did not see anything like it.but I have no clue about ancient Rome buckles..for the most part they look like a lot of ours that we find in farm fields

Thank You Gary for the Site:)

This Item is heavy and appears to be Bronze and is in Great Condition

It was found near a Colosseum type area that had been known to be used by the Romans after they conquered and during their rule

I had forgotton all about it until I unearthed it in Brian's possessions from his detecting in Israel at that time in an effort to organize LOL

We are unsure if they even allow detecting any more in Israel unless sanctioned by the Government Historical Department

FYI We Are Dealing With Local Government Trying To Stop MDing In Our County And It Stinks

He also found Roman Coins that have major environmental damage but when I found Roman Coins during a detecting trip in England the Roman Coins found appeared in much better condition, probably because of the rain in England whereas the long periods of dry heat in Israel
