Rock with hole in center

MEV

New member
Hello, can somebody tell what is this, they told its from the indians could be more than 400 years ago thanks........that peso is the size of a penny

Is the wall inside the hole rough or smooth? What area of the U.S. was it found? If you can get a picture of the inside of the hole it might help determine how it was drilled. I could very well be wrong but I'm leaning towards the piece being modern machine made instead of Indian. By modern I mean in the last 200 years. I'm thinking a small grinding stone.

Agree grinding stone bottom photo shows the grooves on each side for the key way "Pins" holding it in place on the shaft.

Could be a wheel from a mechanical hand grinder.

This is a stumper. Being it is less than two inches in diameter, I would rule out a grinding wheel and a spindle whorl is a good guess but I have never seen one with a keyway...
