Rock Question

Hello all. I've been metal detecting off and on for a while now, but still very green about alot of things in the metal detecting world. I'm using a GTI 2500. I've found that the rocks where I have been detecting do cause the detector to sound off a signal, some are very very slight and some are alot stronger sounds. Anyway my question is this: if these rocks are between the metal detector and the ground I'm trying to detect, will the the detectors ability to detect anything under the rocks be greatly limited? Thanks for any help.

Yes and no. It depends what and how strong the signal is in those hot rocks and what the size and conductivity is under that hot rock. If in doubt.....move it.

Might also help to ground balance your detector over one of these rocks, but might also make things worse...you can try it to see if it helps.

HH,
