rock conductivity???

just got in from my second day, found one token, but was in an area where there were some building rocks for foundation, (pieces of granite),was on old stage stop, dug a log of junk then got a really good signal up in right hand corner and a couple of other good crosshairs, was right next to a rock and thought maybe something next to or under rock, but as we dug I had problems trying to get a pin point. but when I went back to detect I got really good high sounds up to 31, I had a lobo and I checked with that and got high conductivity. but unable to pinpoint so I thought something under rock so kept digging, signals got stronger but strange, finally I broke a piece of the granite and it is super conductive and giving me all the coin signals. Has anyone ever run into this problem, I was kind of under the impression that the XS kind of got rid of the "hot rocks" but boy this granite turned it on. and the crosshairs were right at the upper right and a high pitched sound like a silver dollar. I had everything blocked out but coin and jewelry, even moved the iron to 0 but signals were just as strong. I changed sensitivity from 4 to 22 but readings were same. Have read book dozen times, but keep running into strange problems in field and have no one to ask questions. Need more help learning the XS. My ph # is 208-326-6452 or cell 208-731-8547, and email is kenw@iglide.net. if anyone could help me understand some of the problems I am encountering I sure would appreciate it. I will call back to work on my nickel but do need help. Thanks Ken

Some hot rocks give the Explorer some problems.. usually though they will peg top right, and have that screechy washed out high tone.. a silver dollar actually reads much lower on the right and with a lower tone..get used to that tone cause thats the way they sound and just ignore it.. Also most coins will not read higher than 30 digital, where iron and rocks will give you that 31
