Went to Franconia today. Took the infinium with 8 inch mono. found lots of junk and shell casings. The infinium purred like a kitten. Sat coil on ground. Turned on machine. Set threshold at 6 while in lock position. Moved coil to make sure not over metal then set in slow , bobbed coil a couple times then put back into lock. Bobbed coil again , all is fine so off I went. I did detect one target that was very deep. Dug a foot or more and gave up. Too old for this deep stuff. My 10 by 14 mono should arrive next week so will give that a try when it arrives. I am lucky. I live 25 miles from franconia strewn field, so it is a short road trip. I think I will go down to the lake tomorrow with the gold bug pro and look for coins and jewelry. Do love the infinium though. Most peoples trouble with the infinium is they do not realize how sensitive the machine really is and find fault when it sounds off for no apparent reason. Most noisy ground problems can be solved with the disc set at 1 or2. Don't worry about losing a little depth. Same way with vlf machine. The more ground balance you use the more depth you lose especially in disc. Most people try to operate the infinium like they do their vlf machine. Won't work. Like comparing apples and oranges. Start learning the infinium on its own terms. Enough said, I am running out of wind.
