Went and took some quickie photo's of the St. Louis arch for a website I'm putting up and not very happy with the blue sky, dark buildings, etc. The sun does rise from the side I'm shooting from. Will an early morning shot bring out the blue sky or do I need some white clouds to make it pronounced. I presume it will lighten up the buildings but not sure about the sky. What settings on my Olympus E-10 would be best? Link below showing where the picture is now...
Thanks... Guvner..

Shoot it in the early morning just after sunrise.
Does your camera have a manual mode? If so get your meter reading and put those setting into the camera in manual mode and then "bracket" your exposures. Meaning change your f-stop to a few stops over the metered exposure and a few stops below the metered exposure.
That's what I'd do.

Not sure what a meter reading would be on my camera. I can go to Aperature, Shutter Priority or Manual but not sure other than just changing the shutter up and down what you exactly mean. Sounds like I need to read my manual again darn it... <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
I guess in a more backwards way of doing the metering.. Would I note what shutter speed auto was selecting, switch to shutter priority and then go above it and below it slightly with a couple shots?
Thanks Rick... Gary

Don't use any priority setting when taking the final image.
Meter it first in either shutter or aperture priority write down the setting and flip the camera to manual mode and set the aperture and shutter speed manually based on what you wrote down then change the aperture up and down atleast 2-3 stops both ways taking images at each of the f-stops.
I hope I didn't confuse you.

Remember now... I'm in East St. Louis taking this... I can't hang out there very long...
Just funnin' with you... I always hunt the ghetto parks before the bad guys wake up in the afternoon...
Thanks... Got you that time... Gary
