River clad & marble

I went to the river today to try and find a man's wedding ring he dropped while working around his dock, but the water was too deep for my chest waders and too cold for wading without them. Even tho some young people were swimming, the water was too doggone cold for me. I found 9 cents and a marble and quite a few pop tops and beer caps. I thought hunting in pro mode zero with the iron audio on would help me miss some of those bottle caps, but I was wrong. I couldn't hunt the side I usually hunt due to the swimmers and just worked an area that didn't offer much, but it got me out of the house with my at/pro and that's the first time since 3/16 of this year. The pro mode did find a penny at either 6 or 8 inches and I just barely heard the signal on my headphones and started not to dig it, but I definitely will try the pro mode zero setting more than the standard settings from now on. I got a sweet sound on the nickel and it was a 53. HH.

Well, you got out of the house and got some practice! It won't be long now!!

I enjoyed showing some people at the river how the at/pro and gti-2500 work. This one lady said she used to have a metal detector, but I let her put on the headphones and use it awhile and she was interested. I'm taking her a catalog. I'm not worried about competition, there's enough stuff out there for all of us. I showed another guy the 2500, but he seemed like it was too much for him. This young girl with her family asked if I was looking for gold and I said yes, but I'm finding pop tops and beer bottle caps and she told her Mama I must be crazy. At least that's what it sounded like with my headphones on.
I tried to stay out of the area where the people were swimming. The temperature is supposed to be 87 degrees Wednesday and I plan to try the water without the waders, but I definitely will have my under armor on. I want to find this man's wedding ring for him and get out in the deeper water where there's less pull tabs and beer caps and hopefully more jewelry. HH.

Good Luck, Man...that's tough duty around those docks...pulltabs and split shots and if the dock has metal poles holding it up, all sorts of noise arises from them...well, you cant find that guys ring sitting in the house, so again, Good Luck!:clapping:

Yeah mudpuppy, it's gonna be tough. I wish I had the sniper or 5 X 8 coil for this job, but I hope I can find this man's wedding ring. I was getting a lot of iron hits when I tried to wade out to the dock area where he lost his ring. I should know by Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning. I'm happy to try and help this man out and it's good public relations for our hobby and I want to educate as many people as possible that I'm not here to destroy history, but to recover it. There's an old fort from 1812 that belongs to the historical society and I hope I can get them to let me detect on their property. I'd love to work with some archaeologists and find something special. HH.
