RIP OFF

I've purchased about 6 detectors on this forum without any problems.I usually get a telephone number and deal with someone who has a few post. The dealers also one this site go out of their way for the customer's.I'm sure there's people on this forum(the public) that will rip you off,so take all the safe guards you can.

I have bought a few items and have had no problems at all.
Like it has been said if it sounds too good to be true it most likley is.........
I have sold and bought here....great bunch to deal with as a whole.

I had good luck on the forum, but all I can tell you is it is better than EBAY to buy from us.We like our hobby and will help anyone.
Check with other about someone you want to buy from and you will know if it is safe to buy from them.

I am curious as to why you would ask such a question. I have dealt with many people on this and two other forums and never had an issue. There is a feedback forum where people have an opportunity to voice there likes or dislikes about other people as well as praise the good traders. Check the feedback forum before you deal with someone or ask on that forum if anyone has had any trades with a particular person.

I am like some of the other readers, I am kinda offended that you would ask that question.

I have sold and purchased several units on this site with no problem. I think you'll see that you are dealing with a little higher caliber of folks once you read and get to know most of us.

When buying or selling, usually the buyer will send a money order or Pay Pal or even personal check and have no problems. I have even sent cash to Bill's Detector Sales and DeMarco Detectors in New Jersey. Even the guys here I have dealt with have been superb and very honest. In fact, I think the whole hobby will lend itself to a type of person that is truly loaded with integrity and sees detecting and this forum like therapy. Why would they want to screw that up? Sure, there could be a joker in the crowd but it will only happen once. With that said, you better give the guy your dealing with the exact description of what you are selling or these guys will be on to you pretty quick.

onbrake, I have been buying, selling, and trading on this forum for going on three years and have never had a problem. I prefer sending money via United States Postal Service and I prefer sending metal detectors, or equipment the same way, that way if there is a problem, the the Post Master gets involved.

Like I said, I have never been ripped off doing business on the classified forum, but you do want to use caution, like doing business anywhere, if something sounds to good to be true, then it probably is, if you want to check someone out, you can ask about them on the feed back forum. The way to have a smooth transaction is to ask questions of the person you are going to do business with, give them a phone call, make sure both parties understand what is being sold and how much, and how it will be shipped.

I think this is a very good question from a new person and not a personal attack. We all should ask more questions. After reading forums and observing the on goings i made my first purchase a few years ago. This was an XLT and the transaction was nothing short of a nightmare. I did get my machine - after weeks that the seller received my USPS M.O. I should have asked questions right out of the chute on the Feedback forum. The guy had his own MD website!!! No one should be offended by the questions unless they have something to hide. Perhaps a gentle nudge to the person asking questions towards the Feedback forum would be more appropriate. That Feedback forum is not the easiest to find.

This forum and others operates on a person's word. Like someone smarter than me said: NEGOTIATE and VERIFY which is mostly applicable to our hobby also.

Lets not beat up on a new person indirectly asking for guidance. At worst he should be told that this may not be the appropriate forum category.

i have bought and or sold 12 detectors here and another site with no problem.i think for the most part these guys are good to deal with.i always do paypal so i have a good paper trail to protect BOTH party's .exchange phone numbers and email is a good thing to do and always be honest and expect the same.

I think Dixie digger is right. I have used Paypal a lot with out any problems. Haven't sold anything on this forum but sell a lot on Ebay and paypal gives you a great paper trail. May sell some here in the future.

Paypal is not fool proof. My wife bought 2 dresses on a site like this and got ripped off.She used paypal $600.00.paypal said so sorry for you but we cant do anything. My wife is very good at the Internet and tracked this person down. DA said so sorry to.They did nothing and we filed a complaint. She sold the dress to two different people Da did nothing for us this lady closed her paypal account before paypall tried to do anything. So that is why I ask questions Ebay has never screwed me.By the way the other person didnt get the dresses either.

I hate to tell you this....but I was extremely close to making a purchase from someone, I actually ended up talking to the dealer that sold the individual the item. I found out the person was telling dealer the unit was defective but failed to return it!!! So it is always buyer beware....because there is always one in every crowd! But as one of the wise men said here,,,, check their feedback, or if it does not feel right (to good a deal) you may want to pass...Or buy from a sponsor on this great forum new...<<<<avoid all possible headaches!!! Gregg>>>>>>DFX<<<<<<<<<<<<No looking back!

I purchased a CZ-3D from a guy here on Classifieds Forum. It took about 1 month to get the detector after sending numerous PM's and e-mails. The guy even had the nuts to get mad at me for finally sending a nasty PM threatening legal action after weeks of no response(what would anyone else think after sending a $400 money order and nothing)- I got the detector finally but without the manual, warranty card, headphones and other extras posted-(thanks tonybigman) I will say beyond this experience, everyone has been SUPER...Thanks guys and HH

I 've sold metal detectors on ebay to buyer's from at least ten different countries and haven't had any problems.PayPal is a great tool and is not fool proof, but safety precautions must be taken to help with the odds of not getting ripped off, which can still happen.Bottom line try to find out as much as you can about the person your dealing with, feedbacks from customer's,telephone number, address, and communicate with this individual.

It's like comparing apples to oranges. Folks here are hobbyists for the most part not people trying to make a buck like the bay. I trust 99 percent of the people I deal with here but can't say that for the bay. And if someone turns out here to not be honest, I assure you there will warning posts all over the forum.

check their prior post or ask someone if they have dealth with. Not foolproof, I can guarantee you ebay is not fool proof. Past feedback is a must, I don't by from overseas, either. Ebay, paypal have pretty good charges that's why people like postal money orders. good luck.

I've bought & sold coins and stamps on eBay with no problems. There is so much THing stuff on eBay to look at. Has anyone ever bought a MD from there?
