Took off to Ohio this morning to a gravel pit I heard about. Nice and clear but only a few coins. Diving board, 2 slides and lots of other toys. HOWEVER, right off the Beach there is a drop-off down to 60 foot. Straight down. NO WAY on this earth was I going to go down and see what was there. I was freezing enough as it was in my 5mil suit. Ok, so that was a bust. Pull tabs galore at that site also. College kids!!

On the way back into Michigan I spotted a lake and decided to try it. AM I GLAD I DID. Virgin lake, no metal detector has been around it at all. Coin after coin after coin after coin. Drove me BATTY. I even stopped digging them because there were so many. All probably new. I am going to sort them in a minute. Here is the pile. At least 3 gold and I think 2 silver rings. Lots and lots of interesting things.

87 quarters , 71 dimes, 38 nickles and 149 pennies. 1 wheat 1 Canadian dollar (loonie) and an English 5 pence

The one lighter is shaped like a roll of quarters. A quarter head on top and a quarter tail on the bottom

Both the religious medals say sterling on them.

Anyway. Thanks all. I was going to go out again today but that has been nixed. My right arm is killing me after all that swinging and digging. Tomorrow will be a better day hopefully. I still can't believe all the coins in that lake. I am sure when I go back I can get at least the same amount or more. I will not be going back for a week or two. Way too many signals there.

WoW:cheers:What a load.! I've gotta get certified to dive. Congrats on all the great finds:clapping:

I can't wait to get re-certified diving.... maybe I don't need to was certified 10/97 NAUI (diving in Panama City Beach), you guys got me going I should have bought an Excal before the SE. What the heck I'll have another detector...

Nice Ring, Ring and Cha-ching.

You NEVER need to get recertified. If you still have your dive card it is valid forever. I got certified in 1980. If you have lost your dive card you need to get on Naui's web site and see how to get a replacement. Come join the fun!!

Cool stuff. I have my dive card right here, kept it in the safe. Time to work on gather up some equipment. I have most of my dive stuff in storage and I won't be able to get to it until I move back to Florida. Otherwise if I have it delivered now, then I would have to move it to Florida on my dime and that would be one expensive dime. So I guess I can buy new stuff.
