Rings for Sale

:crylol: Hello fellow hunters:

I have a general question for everyone... I want opinions on the best way to sell some Gold and Plat rings. Some of the rings have nice stones in them confirmed by a jeweler. I took roughly over a half pound of gold rings, mostly 14kt along with a nice PLAT ring weighing over 1/2 ounce to a high end jewelry shop and he wanted to give me $336.60 for everything, I about had to pick my ears up off the floor and reattach them, that was after I stopped laughing. Any and all opinions and thoughts are welcome here, do not hold back any ideas.

Have you tried talking to any one from a prospecting site. They may lead you to someone that melts scrap gold or teach you how to do it.There is one fellow that appears on some of these sites. His name is Steve Herschberg. He did prospecting in Alaska at Ganes Creek.Click on Gans Creek Ak and see if you can contact him.If not you should get some good information. Good luck.

I guess I'll try to start the ball rolling for you.

As I see it... you have numerous options:

Sell each jewelry item to a private individual for a reasonably lower price than new jewelry . (The buyer will get a good deal and you should end up getting more than selling the rings to a jeweler or the metal as scrap.)

Pop the stones and sell the metal for scrap gold prices (and sell the stones separately???)

Put your jewelry up on an auction site.

Sell at a flea market.

Pawn it.

A link to check out the value of your precious metals can be found here: http://www.midstatesrecycling.com/

... and to think... you thought finding all that gold was going to be the tough part! :)

Good Luck!

Hi Ring King,

Our local jeweler is happy to take the gold at a good price, if it's melted into ingots, he told me to melt all the 9k together, all the 14k together and all the 18k together, he stressed not to mix it and that way he can work with it.
You might check this out with the jewelers in you area. And as for the stones I would sell them separately, all up you should end up with a pretty good price.

Hope this helps....All the best.....Boony

Hi Ring King,
Have you thought about selling the rings separately? Also one way to get your money's worth in gold, is why not melt them down into small nuggets like, and selling the stones separately. If you like to wear a ring, why not melt down a few rings, and use the lost wax method of creating your very own design for yourself. Just a few thoughts!

Try this: Get some wood and a piece of glass, and make a display case. Then look in your local paper for spring sales (church community center etc. ) lay 'em out, (keeping an eye) and sell 'em off--as jewlerey, not scrap. You will be able to give great prices, and get more that any jeweler will give you. If that doesen't suit you try these guys, they seem pretty good.
