Ring to Tab Ratio?

Here's a question for you "ring-getters":

What would you estimate your "ring to tab" ratio to be? I've been trying for a gold ring and have dug ALOT of tags. About how many tabs do you dig for each ring? "Guess-timate" works!

(C'mon Tabdog lets hear it)

For me anywhere from 50 to 100 tabs per ring...
But keep in mind, it really depends on where and how you hunt.:detecting:

LOL ... I have an absolutely stuffed full sandwich sized zip lock bag of tabs collected over the same period as the last 3 rings found (two silver and a gold). I am not counting, I am turning in the tabs to a charity that counts them and gets money from a sponsor.

That's a hard question Wane????

Some places have a lot of tabs and others don't.

Some places are more likely to have a ring than
others.

It depends on where you hunt and how you hunt.

Every gold ring I have found seem to be a totally
unexpected happening. But they have been in
good places. Those places I keep learning more
about.

I do know that my ratio has increased over last
year. Last year was the first time I ever found a
gold ring and that was in September, if I remember
right.

Just a guesstimate for this year is somewhere
around 200 tabs per each gold ring.

That's gonna include a ton of other stuff. It may
seem to be just a matter of volume, but learning
to be a better hunter is helping me. But it's not
a smooth progression. I have spurts of finds and
inspirations of success. That's in the midst of
slow finds and not very productive endeavors.

It's a real hard question and will be different for
different people and the way they hunt.

It helps to have a nice light machine like a Tesoro,
but learning to use any machine is the trick.

That GOLDEN Phelps.

That's P for persistence.

Happy Hunting,

Tabdog

As Tabdog states "some places have a lot of tabs and others don't." That's true also for the rings. Some places just have few rings.

Wow, where the heck do you live. Awful lot of rings in your parks.

ok ... didn't count them all. Counted 100 tabs from the bag I am saving them in, found a condiment cup that the 100 tabs filled even with the brim. Filled the cup 8 times with a few left over. So that's about 270 tabs per ring (2 silver and 1 gold) hunting in parks, school yards and play grounds that I have found since May when I started saving this latest bag of tabs. Beach trips are different. In my experience, way more bottle caps than tabs and I think a little better ratio of rings and other jewelry to junk.
