ring markings

5 minutes in neighbors yard with explorer produced a ring(looks like a wedding band)looks like it's silver. the markings inside ring is the letter u with arrow through it and then the number 6. Anybody know what the symbols mean. tried taking a picture but my digital camera is terrible at close up's. thanks
 
The U with the arrow sounds as if that is the designers/jewelers mark and the number 6 more than likely is the size of the ring. Hope this helps somewhat
 
I think jb has you on the right track as far as what the markings stand for. Guess you could always call your local jeweler and ask them. I'm sure they would know for sure. HH.

The makers mark, U with an arrow through it, is the Uncas Manufacturing Co. Below is a link with a little history.....
