Hit gold again with my DeLeon this machine gets better and better I have been using it for three years now and it never stops amazing me with its depth and it ability to find cool stuff. As I get know it, It just keeps proudcing great find one after another. If anyone out there is thinking about getting a D I will tell you can not beat it for the price and its performance in the field.

Hay Phinbolt,

Congrats on the gold ring.

Gold rings are great fun.

Thanks for sharing,

Tabdog

Congrats on the gold ring! That sure makes for a good hunt. I am glad the DeLeon is treating you right, Beale.

Sure sounds like you've mastered the D! What have you learned about it that's helped you find so much gold?

I think the main thing I have learned is to watch what the screen says each and every time and remember what you dig. As everyone knows gold is very fickle it reads anywhere from foil to pull tab and everywhere in between, but gold rings do give themselves away if you pay attention. Where some metals or junk items jump all over while pin pointing gold will repeat with near or the same value with each pass of the coil. Plus where I used to pass up those iffy signals I will pay alot more attention to them before I dig or don't dig. Don't get me wrong I still dig my share of junk ie. foil pull tabs and stuff but my gold count is up so I must be on to something. Alot also has do with reading how other people have found success on this forum, Monte's post are a wealth of information

I'm sure I will, I'll let you know. One more question: does the number reading stay the same at different depths? In other words, if I dig a nickel at 5" I know the depth reading will change if that nickel is at 1", but will the number readout stay the same? I'm guessing yes, but as a DeLeon guru I figure you can give me a definite answer.

No nickels are weird depending on the depth how long they have been in the ground and the age of the nickel normally they will read consistently but older ones from 60 and back will jump around and the war nickel will lock down pretty good at any depth most likely because of the silver in them. I have only found a couple of buffalo nickels so I really don't remember what they did I do remember they were both very deep. And the only V nickel I found was on top of the ground and was a solid nickel signal. Hope that helps one thing I like to do once in a while is run my coil over different size gold objects to keep it fresh in my mind how they read that way when I am in the field I will not pass up any of those signals
