Rim Fire Aftermath

These photos were taken on a recent trip up to Yosemite in the Stanislaus National Forest. I visited this exact rest stop in June 2012, and I could barely catch a glimpse of the Toulumne River. As you can see, this is no longer the case as the Rim Fire burned most of the vegetation in this area. Even so, plants are beginning to reclaim the area less than a year after the fire. Eventually this area will once again be lush with plant life, and tourists will have a hard time seeing the river once again.:)

Oh, and there is music being that this short video only consists of photos, and no video segments. HH and Hope you enjoy.

Rim Fire Aftermath

The ground along the hillsides is pretty bare, although it appears the vegetation near the river includes trees.

Some great photos, its such a shame when a massive high acerage of land is destroyed by fire, can never understand why they dont use wide firebreaks so that fires cannot spread as much,it must be cheaper if its a logging area to have massive big fire breaks rather than loose a total forest as well as all the wildlife and animals that are lost as well.

Dropping water on it from the air is OK i guess but its a 'little too late' type of remedy.

They do use fire breaks such as fire roads, but with wind they can easily jump them. Alsothe logging companies will log the burned trees if they are not to bad.
