I bought an $80 softbound college book for my wife for a class she is taking. The bookstore put it in a priority mail envelope and mailed it that way. My mailman rolled it up like a newspaper to cram it in my mailbox and not two feet away is a lockbox made just for packages.
My wife took it to the post office and asked for the postmaster and all she said was "did you have it insured?" Because it wasn't, they ended the conversation. Turns out she wasn't even the postmaster. Just some supervisor.
I called and the postmaster was "in a meeting" and the operator gave me a number to "consumer affairs" this persons first words were "did you have it insured?" After I said no she wanted to end the conversation. She would not transfer me to her boss because he would only tell me the same thing.
Now I know why so many people go postal working for that government institution.
Not once did I even get any kind of apology. Because I did not get it insured everything was my fault. It seems it is OK for postal workers to damage items while in their possession.
Anybody out there have any ideas or know somebody "higher up" the ladder?
