Rick ND, Question on Ground Balance on GT

Rick, you seem to be knowledgeable on the GT and others. Anyone else feel free to chime in.

I had an original Sovereign and just got a GT. On page 20 in the manual it reads; " When operating in Disc mode, the Sovereign GT uses digital filtering to compensate for ground effects and the Track/Fix/Pinpoint function is disabled".

If this switch is disabled then why does it say in on an earlier page to run the machine in Track or Fix when GB'ing?

This brings me to my first question; When hunting in Disc is the GB automatic or do you need to follow the GB procedure?

Next question; Can I hunt in Pinpoint so I only have to flip from Disc to All Metal to pinpoint my target?

Thanks in advance for your help.

David

Like it says"When ground balancing run in fixed or Track" you only ground balance when you are going to hunt in all metal, then you have to ground balance for max performance. If you run in disc all this is disabled and not being used, but if you want to run in all metal to hunt in then you have to ground balance.
On my GT I run the switch in pinpoint all the time, this way like you say when you are in disc and want to pinpoint you just have to switch from the disc to all metal and the switch is in pinpoint already so you only have to switch the one toggle switch. Just remember the pinpoint, track and fixed toggle is only active when the disc/ all metal switch is in all metal position. When this switch is in disc like the manual says uses filtering to compensate for ground effects and the other switch is not active now.
I hope I explained it OK for you.

Yes, thank you very much Rick. That is what I thought but it was a little confusing. Thanks for your help.
