You wrote: "Oak grove park you see down a little on my post to Art were from 10-12 inches deep and if I would not have been swinging the coil very slow I would have missed them."

I can't seem to find that post. Do you or anyone know where it is?

10-12 inches is great!

Here is the link to Rick's finds:

Do you know how long it took you to find all of those?

Like I say I was working very slow and listening close to those tone changes of a good target. Just before I started going very slow I was swinging slow like normal and only picked up newer coins and dont think I got anything deeper than 7 inches. That going slow and listening close really made a difference as far as depth.

The one with all the silver were found at a newer high school, but used to be a old fairgrounds. This collection was found in around 2 1/2 weeks with a total of around 50 hours. Most said they tried this area but it was too trashy or it was worked out, but not for the Sovereign.
I wish I had a picture of the finds one of the guys with the Sovereign XS picked out of this area. He had 8 halfs with one a 1876 seated half. His total silver count was 223 if I remember right.
We found coins before and after they did construction on this school ballfields.

I've got a couple of more questions for you Rick.On the your hunts discussed in this thread what were your finds of clad and junk versus "keepers".For example, you found about 58 "good" coins in 50 hours of hunting, how mant clad were found in that time?
I must thank you for all your posts.I've only been detecting for a year and purchased my Sovereign after reading your posts.Your advice has really accelerated my learning curve. All the best.

On these there was the wheat pennies too which is not shown, but I beleive there was over 200 of them too found. Now there were very few new coins found as these were picked out by the others that detected. I bet there was less then 50 new coins found.
Now on the picture of Oak grove park finds that in a display case I picked up 1 clad quarter, 3 clad dimes, 1 new nickle and 15 Memorial pennies. The reason for this is that this park is worked very hard by many over the last 30 years, so most all of the surface coins are gone. This also helps being it is worked hard as most of the surface coins are gone so you can concentrate on the deeper ones and the iffy one.
The top picture too is from a very well worked park that many say there is nothing old left in it, but being it is worked hard give us a chance to hear those deeper signals you may never hear when you are blasted with loud surface targets. This park it is rare to get a silver rosie or even a merc and wheat pennies are very rare too as we hit the IH and the barber and seated dimes now if we find a coin. When I say if we find a coin as many times we get skunked, then the next time we get 4 or 5 older coins.
