RFI EMI Filters?

I've been seeing these sold to detectorists on line. I assume they're a gimmick. Has anyone actually tried one?

From what I have read on various forums the majority of folks who have tried them felt that they did not do much, if anything, to cut down EMI. I believe every machine has a built in EMI filter. The only think that I have found that helps me is to put on a smaller coil.

I know they are in my Minelab SE, but maybe they are needed because the pod is plastic. I can't remember if there are 2 or 3. From what I have read most of the RFI enters at the coil. One fact that is true, the ones on line are overpriced wthether they work or not.
